Venezuelan revolution attempt against Maduro

I start this post to leave a record of the bravery of the venezuelan people, who after 15 years of Hugo Chavez’s dictatorship (1998-2013) through extensions of mandates and repression of his opponents. and another 11 years now of Nicolás Maduro’s dictatorship (2013- 2024), has taken up arms against the fascism, socialism and left-wing communism that plagues his country.

What happened?

Hugo Chávez(1998-2013)

according to a 2019 cnn spanish article, Hugo chavez, came to power in 1998 democratically elected by the people, after having failed a coup d’état and being arrested years before in 1992.

After that, it extended its mandates first to 6 years and apparently with no re-election limit, unlike other democracies in the world that have 4-year mandates and a re-election limit of 2 times, adding up to a maximum of 8 years if we compare it, for example, with the United States due to its proximity. Thus guaranteeing that even if the same party wins the elections, people change and new ideas enter.

In this way, Chavez was in power until 2013 when he died of cancer.

So at this point we can affirm that this period of 15 years was a dictatorship, not only because he remained in power for so long but because of all the mandates he carried out, where he refused for example to extend the license of a television network, RCTV in 2007 for example, because it went against his regime.

Nicolás Maduro (2013-2024)

On March 8, 2013, Nicolás Maduro becomes president of Venezuela from vice president and begins his actions to, like his predecessor, extend the duration of his term of office and govern by decrees imposed in “emergency situations” where all other constitutional powers (if any) are suspended.

EXAMPLES:

  • in 2014 Leopoldo lópez , opposition leader is arrested and charged with conspiracy and murder and sentenced to more than 13 years in prison.
  • in 2014 Maduro revokes CNN journalists’ access to the country if he does not rectify his narrative in the face of protests. 2 days later, access is restored.
  • 2015 Dec. 6 – Venezuela’s opposition party wins a majority of seats in National Assembly elections in rejection of Maduro’s government. It is the first major change in the legislative branch since Chavez took office in 1999.
  • 2016- January 15 – Maduro declares a state of “economic emergency”. The country’s economic problems are rooted in falling oil prices, falling exchange rates, power struggles within the government, the imminent possibility of debt defaults, and food shortages.
  • 2016- March 9 – Diplomatic tensions with the United States increase, after Obama renews sanctions against Venezuela, and Maduro recalls his ambassador to Washington, Maximilien Arvelaiz, for consultations.
  • 2016-May 16 – Maduro declares a “constitutional state of emergency”, extending on the “economic emergency” he declared in January.

WHERE ARE WE NOW?

In 2018, after a dubious election, Nicolás Maduro is re-elected president of Venezuela and now in 2024 (July 28); he proclaims himself re-elected, but this time the results against him are overwhelming.

In addition to the evidence of dozens of videos of citizens denouncing the fraud, the evidence is in the country’s own “media” that serves Maduro, that is, in the very data that Maduro wants the rest of the world to believe, this data is erroneous and meaningless, such as the fact that 132% of the population voted or that all other opposition parties obtained the same percentage of votes.

Faced with this blatant deception, the frustration and anger of the Venezuelan people is immeasurable, so great that the entire country took to the streets to protest. The pressure from the people was so great, with a difference of 80% to 20% according to public opinion, that even the police and members of the army refused to repress the people and sided with the protesters. At least at first.

It was believed that Maduro had even abandoned the country in the face of the unrest, but this joy has lasted little, as days later he became visible with new announcements trying to legitimize the false result of the elections and announcing repression and persecution against all those who oppose it.

Currently it can be said that the army and the police are divided between those who support the people and those who follow the Maduro regime, either out of fear or by choice, and although the majority of citizens do not support Maduro, as long as he has the weapons and part of the army and police he will be difficult to defeat.

Right now there is a race against time, as the whole country is at a standstill, but we have to eat every day, for this very reason looting is beginning throughout the country, but in the places where it is believed that Maduro’s supporters keep food and medicine.

More events continue to occur as this article is being written. Finally, I leave you the link to the shared MEGA folder where you can see with your own eyes the testimonies and videos of the people of the town. Videos where they find hidden reserves of food and medicine, videos of Maduro’s statements, the protests of the people, the police and the army against Maduro.
